This past weekend, the city of Chicago played host to the 21st Annual All-Girls National Chess Championships, presented by the Kasparov Chess Foundation in conjunction with Renaissance Knights Chess Foundation and the United States Chess Federation. This year’s tournament set an all-time participation record, welcoming 601 players from 39 states, for an unforgettable three days of competition, camaraderie, and inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held April 10\u201312 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the tournament once again proved why it is the premier all-girls chess event in the United States. Open to female players under 18, the championship featured a six-round Swiss format, bringing together competitors across multiple age and rating sections in a highly competitive yet supportive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But beyond the numbers, what stood out most was the energy in the playing halls: hundreds of young girls thinking deeply, competing fiercely, and building lifelong friendships through the game of chess.
