Held on Super Bowl weekend, the events attracted over 2000 students to duel over the black and white squares.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New York, NY, February 4, 2020 \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>1640 K-12 students, from over 280 schools, competed in the 54th\u00a0Annual Greater New York Scholastic Team and Individual Chess Championships this past weekend (February 1-2).\u00a0 Held at the New York Marriott Hotel at the Brooklyn Bridge, the event drew scholastic players from many different states for two days of hard battles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kasparovchessfoundation.org\/?attachment_id=1112\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1112\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1112\" src=\"https:\/\/kasparovchessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/20200202_112737.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kasparovchessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/20200202_112737.jpg 2175w, https:\/\/kasparovchessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/20200202_112737-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kasparovchessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/20200202_112737-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kasparovchessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/20200202_112737-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Over 1600 player in many sections participated in the competitions<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There were a variety of tournament sections, based on school grade and US Chess rating. Players of all skill levels, from beginners to FIDE Masters took place in the tournaments.
