All-Girls National Chess Championships
Greater NY Scholastic Tournament
To coincide with instruction, KCF
is organizing competitive tournaments, allowing students to test their
prowess against other players with similar skills and abilities. Regularly
scheduled tournaments provide students with the opportunity to challenge
and improve themselves, while making new friends and sharing new experiences.
Tournaments will be organized on a
local, state, national and even worldwide basis, breaking down geographical
borders that have traditionally separated students. Additionally,
a number of exhibition matches, in which grandmasters challenge
a group of students by playing simultaneously, will take place throughout
the country.
As Garry Kasparov serves as
an inspiration to all chess players, we plan to maximize Mr. Kasparov's
involvement through a worthwhile, high-visibility awards program.
KCF will establish an annual Kasparov Award for the most talented
youngsters who demonstrate outstanding academic and competitive
chess results. The publicity and recognition centered on the Awards
Ceremony will serve to promote and expand the goodwill of chess
and The KCF.
