Kasparov Chess Foundation Discovers Illegal Use of Kasparov's Name

New York, NY, Nov. 14, 2005 -- Kasparov Chess Foundation, the non-profit chess educational organization founded by world chess champion Garry Kasparov, after announcing the third annual National All-Girls Chess Championships, to be held at the historic Palmer House Hilton Hotel, Chicago, IL, March 17 - 19, 2006, discovered the illegal use of Mr. Kasparov¹s name in connection with some other Chicago area chess events this fall.

The Foundation has taken appropriate action against the person(s) concerned with these false claims and misleading statements. Those responsible have acknowledged their errors and the Foundation has accepted their apology.

This is the third year the Foundation has served as lead sponsor and organizer of the All Girls Chess Championships. One of the first and most prestigious All Girls chess scholastic tournaments, the competition is USCF sanctioned and open to all girls in public, private or home school, ages 6 - 18.

The Kasparov Chess Foundation regrets any confusion caused by this illegal activity and wishes to reiterate that Mr. Kasparov's next planned trip to Chicago will indeed be for the National All-Girls Chess Championships. The organization is pleased that the matter has been resolved.
