Tremendous Turnout For Kasparov Chess Foundation’s Greater New York Scholastic Chess Championships

1,000+ K – 12 Students Across Greater New York Entered This Year’s Tournament.

New York, NY, Jan. 13, 2015 — Kasparov Chess Foundation (KCF) held its 2015 Greater New York Scholastic Championships on Sat., Jan. 10th and Sun., Jan. 11th, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.  With more than 1,000 registrants, KCF organized and sponsored the tournament in association with Barclaycard, Chess Center of New York and Little House of Chess.

In total, players from more than 190 schools, across five states, including NY, NJ, CT, PA, and DE were represented at the tournament.  Special thanks goes to NTDs Sophia Rohde and Steve Immitt for directing the tournament, Danny Rohde who served as chief arbiter, and Nils Grotnes for his technical support and tournament website development.  For a complete recap of results and standings, please visit: www.gnyscc.com.
